Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about repairs, pricing, and how I work.

How long do I have to be without my PC? +

I aim to sort most software repairs, health-checks and virus removals within 24 hours of dropping the PC off. Hardware repairs may take longer if parts are required or for intermittent faults.

Why do you prefer text/messaging over phone calls? +

As a solo technician, I'm often hands-on fixing computers and can't always answer calls immediately. Text messages and WhatsApp let me respond quickly between tasks — meaning you get a faster reply. I typically respond within 2 hours during business hours. You can still call, just be aware messaging usually gets you a quicker response.

Do you do in-home service? +

In some circumstances it may be an advantage to visit your home or business. However, my prices are geared to in-workshop repairs to keep costs down. In-home service is available at £50 per hour.

Do you collect and deliver? +

Yes, occasionally, for people who cannot bring the device in due to disability, transport problems etc. Please just ask.

What is your No Fix No Fee policy? +

When equipment is brought in intending to be repaired here, if I cannot fix it or you feel it is beyond economical repair, there is no charge for the diagnostic service. For equipment brought in for a diagnostics-only or insurance quote service (not intending to repair here), a £30 charge applies.

What happens with liquid damage? +

Liquid damage assessments cost £40. This covers the extended time needed to investigate the extent of damage and clean components. A written report is included which can be presented to your insurance company.

What areas do you cover? +

The workshop is based in Gloucester. I serve all of Gloucestershire including Cheltenham. In-home visits are available — ask for details.
